October Update

Many good things happening in Oregon City!
In September, O-City Together helped to raise awareness around Family Day, a Day to Have Dinner with Your Children, by way of a City and County proclamation, a booth at the Health Fair, announcements in church bulletins, posters and brochures at schools and local grocery stores, and PSAs on public access TV.

According to the Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA), teens from families that almost never eat dinner together are 72 percent likelier than the average teen to use illegal drugs, cigarettes and alcohol, while those from families that almost always eat dinner together are 31 percent less likely than the average teen to engage in these activities.

Coming up in October, we will be collaborating with the Oregon City Police Department on a Prescription Drug Take-Back October 29th from 10-1.  This is a chance to get outdated meds out of your cabinet.  70% of people 12 & older who abuse prescription drugs get them from family members.  The more we understand safe disposal of left over prescription drugs, the safer our kids will be.
The decision was made to hold general meetings every two months, with the next one on Thursday November 17th from 4:30 – 6:00pm.  Hope to see you there!
Many thanks for all of your support.
